Chef BJ Dennis

✨ Celebrity Chef✨

Rooted in culture. Elevated by flavor.

If you’ve watched High on the Hog on Netflix or Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi, then you’ve already met Chef BJ Dennis—the culinary curator of mouthwatering Gullah Geechee cuisine. This celebrated personal chef, caterer, and cultural ambassador brings more than just food to the table—he delivers a full-sensory journey through history, heritage, and flavor. Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Chef BJ stands apart in Southern cooking by honoring the roots of the Gullah Geechee people—descendants of West Africans whose foodways shaped the identity of the Lowcountry. With a foundation built from lessons with his grandparents, years of study in St. Thomas, and travels across the Caribbean and West Africa, BJ connects the African diaspora through every dish.

His food features locally sourced, in-season ingredients prepared with ancestral techniques and a modern twist. It’s soulful, fresh, and unapologetically Gullah Geechee.

📣 BIG NEWS: Chef BJ Dennis will be the special celebrity chef at the Fish and Grits Music Festival 2025 on Hilton Head Island!

Can’t wait? Contact Chef BJ to cater your next event or intimate dinner and taste the culture at home.
