Looking to explore and experience authentic culture? Smalls Cultural Resources is the go-to organization dedicated to preserving the stories, spaces, and traditions that matter most. Led by Victoria A. Smalls, a native of St. Helena Island, SC, the organization supports Gullah Geechee communities and their global connections to the African Diaspora.

“Gullah-Geechee is all of this melding. We are melding all of those West African cultures to make this beautiful culture we have today.” – Victoria Smalls, Owner of Smalls Cultural Resources

With over 20 years of experience, Smalls has served in key roles, including executive director of the Gullah Geechee National Heritage Area and commissioner for both state and federal heritage commissions. Her expertise has been shared through institutions like the Penn Center, the National Park Service, and the International African American Museum.

Widely recognized for her leadership and advocacy, she has earned numerous awards, including the 2024 Governor’s Award in Humanities and The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Through Smalls Cultural Resources, she continues to champion cultural preservation and education across the Southeast and beyond.
