PURPOSE: The BSA/AML and Fraud Prevention Analyst(Analyst) position exists to fulfill the components of the credit union’s fraud prevention program, minimizing risk of loss through the analysis and review of member activity reports that have been identified as high risk. The position also supports the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) program to ensure overall compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Review fraud and money laundering alerts generated by the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) software for suspicious activity.
  • Provide clerical and analytical support for the execution of the BSA/AML Program.
  • Responsible for watch list monitoring, including OFAC and 314a list.
  • Execute daily tasks related to the BSA/AML monitoring program including but not limited to validation procedures for the transactions data and monetary instruments feed into the monitoring software.
  • Assists the AVP/BSA/AML with the credit union’s BSA/AML program to ensure compliance, to include working with the monitoring software, filing CTRs and SARs or other regulatory forms, and fraud investigations.
  • Assists with reviews of Power of Attorneys and Guardianships prior to account opening.
  • Updates fraud profiles and watch lists timely as appropriate
  • Review and resolve reports such as, new account fraud, debit fraud and check kiting alerts in the time frame allowed
  • Keeps supervisor informed of potential fraud, suspicious activity, losses and trends
  • May work with the Departments and law enforcement involving fraud cases incurred at the credit union
  • Provides supporting documentation to ensure completion of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR)
  • Reviews and tests new fraud software modules
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must have five to ten year’s previous experience working in a similar support function, with a focus on fraud prevention and BSA/AML compliance
  • BSA Compliance Certification preferred.
  • Must be tactful and have the ability to quickly explain Credit Union policies, procedures, and services
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures and regulations
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Credit Union computer system or personal computer, computer generated reports, calculator and other standard office equipment
  • Must have the ability to perform detailed work and use problem-solving skills for complex issues
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both oral and written
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of information

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work requires physical mobility within the general work area and carrying of light items such as books, computer listings and small stacks of papers.

The work is performed in offices and meeting rooms. Work can be conducted at a remote location.
