This is a part-time, hourly paid position with the need to be flexible, as classroom ratios fluctuate. Responsible for providing a safe, caring environment for children 6 weeks to 12 years old for families of those we serve at the Kids Castle Playcare. A Kids Castle Playcare childcare provider is responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintains a positive, creative and playful atmosphere for all participants. Physical activity is typically required, including lifting children, standing and kneeling. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to discuss a child's progress with parents/caregivers and staff. Strong decision-making skills and good judgment are essential as the childcare provider may need to respond to emergencies and difficult situations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the families of those we serve. Provide communication with parents of child's daily accomplishments and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, engaging and clean atmosphere for the children. Always monitoring for any safety hazards.
  • Establish regular, daily planning of activities.
  • Engage children through arts and crafts, reading, games, physical activities, age-appropriate communication etc. for their mental development.
  • Organize toys and materials and ensure a safe and clean activity area.
  • Develop a cleaning routine throughout the day that keeps all the interactive areas sanitary and safe by washing toys and play equipment.
  • Know and comply with the state minimum standards for the child-care center.
  • Know each child's name and age assigned to your room and maintain continuous count.
  • Supervise children assigned to classroom at all times.
  • Ensure that the environment where children are kept is clean and safe.
  • Keep records of children's daily activities (feeding and diaper changes and record activities).
  • Attend required trainings organized for childcare workers to acquire new skills; maintain annual state regulated certification.
  • Ensure that children are fed and have diaper changes according to their needs and policy.
  • Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers information about each child's activities during previous shift and any verbal and written instructions given by the parent.
  • Wash hands frequently and according to policy for the safety and wellness of each child and staff member.
  • Know safety rules and regulations and assist with regularly scheduled drills as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) years of child care experience, preferred.
  • Skills and competencies: Must possess or obtain a valid CPR and First Aid certifications; Ability to pass background check and drug screening required; Caring and compassionate attitude a must; Friendly, polite, customer-service oriented; Ability to work with persons of all ages from diverse backgrounds; Ability to engage children of all ages, conflict resolution skills.
  • Typical Physical Demands: Requires lifting, sitting, standing, bending and reaching, ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Typical Mental Demands: Ability to communicate with children, parents and other staff.
  • Working Conditions: Maintain flexible schedule. Must be able to work nights and weekends.
