The CNC Machinist, Level 1 is an entry level position that will study technical drawings, diagrams and work instructions and become familiar with fabricating parts or components through turning operations. This individual will need to know basic blueprint interpretations and will be trained to become more proficient in reading and interpreting more complex blueprints, sketches, and work instructions to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of a finished product. The L1 will be trained to set-up a job on a CNC machine, service, and maintain equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. Additionally, the L1 will be trained to utilize precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. During training, The L1 Machinist will take note so that this individual will be able to train others in the future on set up and machine operability. L1's will learn to assist the Supervisor in the completion of first article inspections to ensure quality standards are met, monitor, and promote all safety best practices and policies.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Functions as an entry level position within the machining department and will be trained to eventually run multiple CNC equipment.
  • \n
  • Will be trained to perform in process inspection of machined products (including documentation of results), will be asked to demonstrate his learnings and will be evaluated by the trainer, Lead and Supervisor to ensure progress is satisfactory.
  • \n
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts
  • \n
  • Completes secondary operations i.e., deburr, polish, etc. in cycle time per print and process.
  • \n
  • Learning how to set-up, operate, and develop jobs and production operations.
  • \n
  • Participates in root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • \n
  • Maintains the machine and environment at safe and clean condition.
  • \n
  • Will be trained to perform total productive machine maintenance, given knowledge so that the individual gains the ability to make minor repairs and perform preliminary troubleshooting activities.
  • \n
  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned in accordance with established Company mission and values.
  • \n

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Entry level in turning operations on CNC equipment. Will be trained to use inspection methods using calipers, height/depth gauges, dial indicators and granite tables.
  • \n
  • Desire to learn cutting tools and materials, fixture to machine relationships, and set-up.
  • \n
  • Will be introduced to Statistical Process Control (SPC) and will learn the plotting of graphs, upper and lower control limits and when the process illustrates out of control conditions.
  • \n
  • Provides consistent ideas for process improvements.
  • \n
  • Works under constant supervision.
  • \n

BASIC REQUIRED SKILLS (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered) :
  • 0 to 1 years of experience in CNC precision machining.

PREFERRED REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • \n
  • Experience with root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, aerospace material, engineering/quality specifications, and programming capabilities.
