Description: Community Outreach AmeriCorps members serve to increase the awareness of local communities of Habitat services. This could mean creating educational materials, delivering presentations at community events, meeting with families to explain the Habitat programming, or serving with staff to ensure the office is welcoming space for families and volunteers to come. This position will have lots of time spent outside serving with staff, volunteers, and interacting with Habitat families.

Example Activities could include:

  • Assisting with completion of homeowner surveys including entering data and filing appropriately after completion
  • Gathering information from homeowners in person or over the phone.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for volunteers and Habitat families by assisting staff with office organization.
  • Occasionally members join in Habitat builds and repairs with other Habitat staff and volunteers to better understand the Habitat mission and purpose.

  • Serve 40 hours per week, earning a living stipend of $1780 per month
  • $3,700 education award upon successful completion of service.
  • $200 monthly reimbursement on rent or mortgage
  • Health insurance for all members serving more than 6 months
  • Additional benefits include comprehensive training and mentoring, generous time off, federal student loan deferment, and childcare assistance, and more (

**Desired Skills **

  • Be able to travel to office on your own
  • Communication skills as you will be speaking community members, staff, volunteers, and potential Habitat families.
  • Self starter who is not afraid to take a project and make it your own and ask questions along the way.
  • Other skills: MS Office, Canva, transportation to affiliate offices,

**AmeriCorps Minimum Eligibility Criteria: **

  • At minimum members must be high school graduates, GED receipts, in the process of attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service, or the program must be an approved Youth Corps program. Or prove they are unable to officially do so.
  • Be 18 years or older at the start of service (no upper age limit)
  • Pass a national service criminal history check prior to first day of service
  • Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US national, or Lawful Permanent Resident
