Independent Lighting & Electrical, locally owned and operated in Virginia Beach, VA with over 30 years of history, is looking for experienced electricians to join our growing team. 

 

 

Electrician – Full-time

 
Electrician Responsibilities and Duties:

Commercial ground up electrical buildouts, and installation, retrofit, and troubleshooting of commercial indoor and outdoor lighting systems

• Execute plans of electrical wiring for lighting and other electrical systems
• Install distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breakers, panels etc.)
• Proficiently install electrical circuits and network cables, and ensure compatibility of components
• Install and support conduits, pull wire, terminate equipment and devices
• Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and the cause, replace damaged parts
• Supervise or lead a crew when necessary

Electrician Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven journeymen level experience as an electrician
• Experience in commercial electrical systems and lighting
• Demonstrate ability to use electrical meters and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and read electrical drawings and blueprints
• Thorough knowledge of lock out tag out safety procedures, regulations, and NEC codes
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability - troubleshooting
• Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work full shifts
• Valid driver’s license with a good record
• Ability to work on ladders, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and lift 50 lbs.
• Journeyman or Master license preferred

$24.00 - $34.00 per hour based on experience
