Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health & Security Manager to join our ISP Chemicals LLC business at our Calvert City, Kentucky, plant. This is a highly visible and significant role within the Company and the EHSS function. This position reports to the Site Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Possesses a thorough knowledge of and ability to effectively utilize methods and tools to conduct risk assessments and process hazard analysis. Exhibits ability to conduct root cause analyses, identify corrective actions, and utilize incident management systems to improve site and employee safety.
• Provides leadership and support to ensure the Health and Well-being of all employees. Focuses on reducing and eliminating employee injuries, avoiding costs associated with employee injuries, property and equipment damage, and business interruption by implementing, facilitating, and promoting a Zero Incident Culture, along with leading indicator programs.
• Leads, implements and manages all Federal, State, Local, and Ashland Safety, Health and Security regulatory requirements including all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programs such as Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Planning (EPA-RMP), OSHA Training, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Respiratory Protection, OSHA Recordkeeping, High Hazard work (Confined Space Entry, Lockout Tag-out, Hot work), Hearing Conservation, Occupational Health and other programs including Responsible Care, Security Management (DHS/CFATS) and Insurance/Loss Prevention for the plant.
• Demonstrates skill in project management tools and methods to successfully manage and implement several projects and initiatives simultaneously.
• Possesses thorough knowledge of adult learning methods and can identify, develop, and facilitate Safety and Health-related training materials and topics.
• Communicates clearly and effectively through verbal and written messages appropriate to the audience. Delivers information in a formalized and/or group setting. Able to interpret then translate complicated and/or technical information into a simplified format to be easily understood by all levels of the organization.
• Holds working knowledge of current software systems, i.e. SAP, MAXIMO, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Skilled in utilizing database software programs and electronic project management tools.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health engineering, Industrial Safety and Hygiene or other related technical degree (i.e., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
• Minimum of Ten Years of industrial safety and regulatory experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting, of which two years must be in the oil, nuclear, or chemical industry.
• A minimum of 5 years of Supervisory/Managerial Experience
• A minimum of 5 years working at a PSM Facility.
• Always demonstrates responsible and ethical behavior.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit :

• Designation as a Certified Safety Professional through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
• Prior Emergency response experience.
• Prior experience in Behavior-Based Safety / Human Performance
• Prior experience working with regulatory agencies.
• Six Sigma certification.
