As a Software Engineer supporting the OPSMOD Task, you’ll design and prototype advanced capabilities that modernize metrics and monitoring across critical mission systems. Your work will directly enhance performance visibility, operational efficiency, and decision-making for national security operations. Here's What Your Day-to-Day Might Include

• Develop rapid experimental prototypes to support modernization of metrics and monitoring systems

• Build and enhance tools for data collection, visualization, and alerting using modern frameworks

• Develop software solutions using Java and Python in a Linux environment

• Integrate and sustain big data search and analytics tools including Splunk and Elastic Stack

• Configure monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus and Grafana

• Develop with messaging frameworks such as Kafka for scalable data pipelines

• Work with noSQL databases such as Elasticsearch and MongoDB, and time-series databases like OpenTSDB

• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Ansible and other Infrastructure as Code tools

• Support CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and version control with Git

• Conduct demonstrations to validate prototype functionality and scalability

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (must be active). We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas.

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline plus five (5) years of experience

• OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline plus seven (7) years of experience

• OR nine (9) years of relevant experience in software engineering of similar scope and complexity

Required Skills

• Linux command-line experience

• Bash and Python scripting

• Java development in Linux environments

• Splunk and Elastic Stack development and integration

• Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and visualization

• Kafka for distributed messaging

• Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and OpenTSDB database experience

• Infrastructure as Code automation with Ansible

• CI/CD pipeline implementation with GitLab CI

• Source code management using Git

Desired Skills

• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

Compensation Range: $179,000.00 - $237,000.00 

*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
