Job Description


The Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee all aspects of its Laboratories, including a High complexity and CLIA waived location.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



  • Responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory and EKG services including providing day-to-day supervision of personnel.


  • Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.


  • Fulfills certain responsibilities if delegated by the lab director such as: solving technical problems and ensuring remedial action are take when test systems deviate from performance specifications, ensuring patient test results are not reported until test systems are functioning properly and any corrective actions have been taken, providing orientation to testing personnel, and annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel.


  • Maintaining CLIA certificates for all labs associated with PCI as well as COLA accreditation for the main location.


  • Review test logs, result logs, and temperature logs in the PCI departments performing testing monthly.


  • Perform competency testing on all PCI employees performing lab testing.


  • Maintain quality assurance and proficiency testing programs.

 

Requirements: 



  • Qualified candidates must be able to perform all functions in the testing area of the laboratory.


  • Applicants should possess strong communication, customer service skills and basic computer skills. 


  • BA or BS in lab science, ASCP certification, and one year training and experience in high complexity testing required.


  • Experience and education must align with CLIA requirements. Prefer 3-5 years supervisory experience.
