Job Summary Directly responsible for general repairs and maintenance of locks and panic hardware in all Moffitt locations and ensures that all areas provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Will also provide fire watch detail when needed. Responsibilities Knowledge of the techniques for keying, repairing, installing, and servicing locks and related hardware. Installs, adjusts, repining and services locks and related equipment within the Center. Maintains master key systems for each assigned structures/facilities. Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns, or codes. Re-key existing facilities, as required, to Moffitt’s master key systems. Cut keys by code and duplicates keys using various types of key cutting machines. Installs and maintains Moffitt’s electronic locks for all Moffitt sites and facilities. Repairs and services "panic hardware" on doors. Evaluates lock problems for feasibility of repair or determines need for replacement. Performs all maintenance necessary to keep all locks and locking devices in functional and safe operating condition. Knowledge of fire watch procedures. Perform fire watches when needed. Responsible for maintaining training and skill level in various technologies at the level required to perform job duties. Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, with the support of Moffitt, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position. Clean, maintain, and calibrate tools and equipment as necessary. Opens locks for which there is no key or existing combinations both mechanical and electronic. Adjusts doors and any related hardware to ensure doors are closing and latching in a proper manner. Repairs and maintains complete "door opening," to include doors, closers, sweeps, hinges, and other related equipment. Rebuilds major locking devices, both mechanical and electronic, as well as any supporting hardware. Minimum Qualifications High School Education/GED required. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a door/hardware/Locksmith industry. Documented experience in the Locksmith trade as it relates to position. Formal knowledge of master keying preferred. Valid Florida driver’s license is required. Able to perform fire watch when called upon. Preferred Experience Associate’s Degree. Ability to train employee and coordinate projects with contractors for remodeling and new construction installations.
