Museum Educator, Digital Media And Content Creation

The Paley Center for Media is the world's leading 501 (c)(3) nonprofit cultural institution whose mission is to preserve our media history and to explore media's powerful shaping influence on our culture.

Scope

The Paley Center for Media is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Museum Educator, Digital Media and Content Creation to lead the design and delivery of a suite of educational programs for intergenerational audiences. This full-time role will focus on developing and facilitating interactive, museum-based workshops centered on digital content creation, social media literacy, safe digital practices, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

This position plays a key role in supporting The Paley Center's mission to foster digital literacy, critical thinking, and responsible media use among families. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in education and media, a passion for youth and family learning, and a deep understanding of today's digital platforms and tools.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate workshops on topics including:
    • YouTube and Content Creation Filming and editing basics, branding, storytelling, community guidelines
    • Social Media Literacy Platform safety, privacy settings, screen-time boundaries, and digital etiquette
    • Artificial Intelligence Core concepts, ethical considerations, and hands-on exploration using tools such as ChatGPT, DALLE, and Teachable Machine
  • Design curricula and interactive learning experiences for mixed-age audiences, primarily parents and children ages 8+
  • Facilitate in-person workshops that promote media literacy, creativity, and teach best practices for social media safety, privacy, and responsible online use
  • Translate complex technical and online safety concepts into accessible, engaging, and inclusive learning content.
  • Stay current on digital trends, tools, and best practices to inform program development
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align programming with institutional goals and priorities
  • Support data collection, evaluation, and continuous improvement of workshop offerings
  • May supervise part-time educators or interns as programs scale
  • Participates in other projects as assigned

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in education, museum programming, media literacy, instructional design, or youth/family engagement
  • Demonstrated success in developing and facilitating educational programs for children and/or families
  • Strong knowledge of digital content platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok), social media tools, and emerging technologies
  • Experience using and teaching creative and educational tools such as iMovie, Canva, CapCut, AI platforms such as ChatGPT and DALLE
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting to and engaging with diverse audiences in live, interactive settings
  • Familiarity with digital safety regulations, such as COPPA, and parental control tools
  • Experience leading intergenerational or family-focused programming
  • Background in STEM/STEAM or digital citizenship education
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong work ethic with desire and preference to work in-person as part of a cohesive, collaborative, high-energy, in-the-office work environment
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in education, media studies, instructional design, or related field a
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish a plus
