Job Purpose

The Working Superintendent for the Roofing Department plays a critical role in assisting Project Managers with the successful execution of roofing projects across commercial, residential, and hospitality properties. This position ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include supervising crews, managing schedules and materials, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout each phase of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate roofing projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Work alongside crews and subcontractors to complete daily tasks and meet project goals.
• Schedule labor, materials, and equipment according to project timelines.
• Develop and maintain a reliable subcontractor and labor resource pool.
• Communicate regularly with customers, addressing concerns and providing progress updates.
• Use project management software and tools to track job progress, document work, and manage internal reporting.
• Prepare and submit accurate change orders and cost estimates when project scope changes.
• Collaborate with building departments, engineers, inspectors, and architects throughout the roofing process.
• Identify and resolve on-site issues proactively using problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA and company safety standards; maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Monitor and protect company tools and materials, lock and secure equipment after hours.
• Write and maintain detailed schedules; communicate expectations clearly to crews and clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in roofing, including commercial, residential, and hospitality projects.
• OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of roofing systems, construction practices, and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and insurance reps who may have limited technical understanding.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented, with strong planning and follow-through skills.
• Ability to handle office-related responsibilities, including scheduling, maintaining project calendars, and using Microsoft Outlook and other software programs (e.g., project management platforms, documentation tools, and reporting systems).
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently under pressure.
• Solid negotiation and leadership abilities.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs regularly.
• Able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and roofs; work at heights.
• Must maintain balance and physical coordination in varied conditions.
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• May be exposed to weather, dust, fumes, and other hazardous conditions; protective gear required as needed.
