Job Purpose

The Talent Acquisition Specialist / Recruiter plays a key role in attracting and hiring top talent to support our growing business — with a strong focus on recruiting diesel technicians and other skilled roles across our Texas and New Mexico branches. This role partners closely with branch leaders, HR, and operations teams to understand workforce needs, build strong candidate pipelines, and represent our company at industry and school events.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for technician and skilled trade positions, including job posting, sourcing, screening, and interview coordination. Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Utilize creative sourcing strategies — job boards, social media, referrals, networking, and direct outreach — to attract qualified candidates.
  • Maintain a strong candidate pipeline for high-demand positions (technicians, parts, service, and field roles).
  • Manage applicant flow through Workday and other systems and processes, ensuring timely communication and a strong candidate experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with diesel technology and trade schools across Texas and New Mexico.
  • Coordinate and attend job fairs, career days, and industry recruiting events to promote the company and attract entry-level technicians.
  • Develop partnerships with instructors, career services, and student organizations to create a consistent talent pipeline.
  • Promote the company as an employer of choice through social media, community involvement, and referral initiatives.
  • Support development of recruiting materials and technician career path messaging.
  • Provide timely updates and feedback to candidates and hiring managers to ensure a positive hiring experience.
  • Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and candidate quality to improve results.
  • Partner with HR and marketing on recruitment campaigns and technician outreach initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Performs other HR related duties and projects as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Knowledge of recruiting best practices, sourcing techniques, and employment laws.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and roles across several locations.
  • Proficiency in applicant tracking systems (Workday experience a plus) and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and travel as needed.
  • 25% Travel required to branches and job fairs across Texas and New Mexico.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of recruiting experience, ideally in heavy equipment, construction, trucking, manufacturing, or skilled trades.
  • Experience recruiting diesel technicians or technical roles strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be alert and is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions and Additional Requirements

This job operates in an office environment. Office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training and projects. 25% Travel required to branches and job fairs across Texas and New Mexico. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
