Job Description
The Scholarly Year Medical Student is a salaried position which provides exposure to the health care research environment, as well as research mentorship under the Principal Investigator. The Scholarly Year Medical Student provides support to a principal investigator as related to research operations. Duties may include, but are not limited to: literature reviews, scientific writing, data collection and entry, statistical analysis, and regulatory maintenance.
Responsibilities Responsibilities: - Performs basic administrative functions.
- Performs basic data entry and collection, as well as statistical analysis, for investigator-initiated research projects.
- Writes and submits abstracts/manuscripts to academic journals
- Assists in preparing grant applications, as well as IRB/GCO submissions/filings.
- Obtains informed consent under minimal supervision of the investigator(s) and educates participants regarding study requirements.
- Assists in the activities related to clinical research studies including but not limited to: screening participants for eligibility, registering subjects, administering lifestyle questionnaires.
- Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with hospital procedures. Ensures accurate and complete compilation of subject data through chart reviews.
- Secures, delivers, and ships clinical specimens as required by the protocol.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science or a related field
Qualifications - Currently enrolled in an accredited medical education program
- Exposure to academic research environments, (authorship on previous academic publications is preferred)
- Exposure to the field of neuroscience (knowledge of cerebrovascular pathologies is preferred)

Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.5 - $33.242 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
