Lien Underwriter – Personal Injury

The Personal Injury (PI) Lien Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and assessing the financial aspects of PI cases, with a focus on ensuring the best possible outcomes for injured clients while minimizing financial risk. This role requires a deep understanding of the PI industry, and how cases are typically structured. The position will require setting appropriate benchmarks while serving as the primary financial contact for attorneys and their staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the details of personal injury cases, including the nature and severity of the injury, police reports, insurance policies, possible legal claims, and potential settlement amounts
• Conduct thorough financial evaluations of cases, assessing risks, opportunities, and maintaining benchmarks to guide funding decisions
• Manage the underwriting process by making informed financial decisions, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with case progression and company policies
• Serve as the primary financial point of contact for attorneys, facilitating clear communication and collaboration
• Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with attorney customers, providing them with the necessary support and confidence in our services
• Assist attorneys with case evaluations, including reviewing police reports, gathering information and offering financial insight
• Monitor and track case progress from intake to disbursement, providing regular updates to attorneys and notifying them of any issues such as lapses in treatment
• Organize and send provider bills and medical records to attorneys as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in personal injury case management
• Strong communication skills, especially with attorneys, clients, and co-workers
• Ability to make sound judgments and process information efficiently
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, email, and adaptability to new software programs and processes

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shift
