About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead its Advancement division. The CAO will be a key figure in the organization's mission, responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, engage, and inspire long-term relationships with supporters. This role demands an experienced and creative strategist, an expert communicator, and a team leader with a strong background in fundraising. The successful candidate will carry a portfolio of major donors, work closely with the Board and campaign leadership, and be at the forefront of a comprehensive campaign. They will also be tasked with broadening the company's major and principal gifts culture, expanding the donor base, and strengthening relationships with philanthropists and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal CAO for the company will be a relationship builder and storyteller, with a proven track record in philanthropy. They will be empowered to assess and optimize the organizational structure of the Advancement division and must champion efficient systems and processes. A key priority is to work in partnership with the Museum Director and Trustees to expand connections to prospective, high-capacity individual and institutional funders. The role requires a strategic, data-informed approach, and a willingness to foster a culture that is open to calculated risk. The incoming CAO will join a dynamic and talented team and must be prepared to undertake significant donor discovery work to support the company's growth and enhance its national and international reputation.
